"I have held many things in my hands, and I have lost them all; but whatever I have placed in God's hands, that I still posess" - Martin Luther 1483-1546

The Artplast name came alive from a child's play. Back when she was seven, my daughter Emma was inventing her own email address: emma@artplast.ro. I was immediately struck by her idea of combining two words "art" and "plastic", and I bought the domain artplast.ro to serve her as a virtual gallery.

These paintings represents the work of my eleven years old daughter Emma, from back when she was seven. The technique she loves the most is tempera on glass. She paints on the back of the glass and covers it finally with gold paint. This way, even if it is hard to see on the web, in reality every painting has fine gold areas and streaks which brightens the overall. Also, the gold paint protects the tempera from the variations of humidity which in time cause it to flake and crack.

This technique is not new. In Transylvania, orthodox monks are painting from some 300 years icons on glass. Some of them have the saints aureolas unpaint. The subsequent covering with gold foil on the back gives them the final and correct (orthodox) aspect.

Emma takes painting lessons in the "Children Palace from Bucharest" together with other pupils under the supervision of the art professor Alina Dumitrascu. These lessons are sponsored by the Ministry of Education.
