Page dedicated to the legendary "Druzhba", the chainsaw from the Soviet Union. This Easter I inherited one made in 1992 (Model 4, I guess). Identical to this one. It belonged to my actually deceased uncle Dorel. It was laying on the ground in a barn at granma's farm. Didn't function for a long time, judging from the badly corroded legs of the case and the solid rusted chain. The carburetor seemed to be dirty, not working properly. When pouring some fuel compound directly in the chamber it went thru some 10-15 cycles so I took it home to give it a chance. During its life it was dismounted many times (by various persons) from the worn slots of the screws and is missing almost all the gaskets along with the air filter. When rehabbing, besides cleaning, I used red silicone rated 300°C to bed the block and the case and hope it holds.
Today May 7 I made a preliminary assembly and tried to start it (just to see if it's worth continuing restoring it). It started! Of course the carburetor is completely out of balance, the fuel mix was bogus, but what counts is that I can continue. I will dissassemble again and clean some more, draw file the bar (has some nasty mushrooming) and see if the oil pump works.
Today May 9 I tried it again. The oil pump is ok. Tomorrow I'll take it in the country side for a tryout. The compound is 1/20, a bit on the oily side...
I looked on the net and finally found the original instructions of use for the Ural-2t model. Almost identical except the carburetor. I took the pain to translate some of it pertaining the quantities used:
